History
A.W. Chesterton Company was founded in 1884 by A.W. Chesterton. The company was originated in Boston, selling engineers’ and steamboat supplies. The company didn’t take long to grow, with the 1905 purchase of Ingall’s Boiler Cleaners and Scrapers. This gave the company a national sales network that set up the company as a distributor as well. This company created its own mechanical packaging brand and the company soared through the Great Depression, expanding to Mexico, Newfoundland, Canada, and Nova Scotia by the end of the 1940s.
This company focused on the production of lubricants, sealants, cleaners, and split seals in the coming decades, before downsizing and restructuring the company in 2002. The five subsidiaries that were created by this reorganization include Advanced Reinforced Composites, Mechanical Seals, Technical Products, Mechanical Packing, and Hydraulic Seals. The company continues to remain strong today with a focus on manufacturing engineered polymer solutions, industrial fluid sealants, ARC composite coatings, and various other maintenance products. It also manufactures many related products and fluids that are needed for the mechanical assembly process.
